A Little Bit About Us…

The head farmer here is Sam. He’s a third generation farmer who grew up on his mother’s Italian cooking and developed high standards for food! He won’t tolerate a tomato that’s not perfectly round or squeaky clean and of course… bursting with flavor!

He took responsibility for the family’s Long Island cabbage, cauliflower, and potato farm at the age of 12 …and has been perfecting the art of farming ever since.

As a kid, he was tasked with spraying all kinds of nasty pesticides and herbicides and hated it. Now he seeks out the safest and most pollinator-friendly products he can find for weed and pest management.

In 2005 Sam and wife Maura, weary of the high pressure lifestyle in Long Island, moved to Vermont to enjoy a slower pace and focus on farming.

Sam also put his skills from a career in contracting to work to build a welcoming and comfortable storefront where you can visit with us and conveniently pick up the week’s groceries.

His passion, though, is pumpkins. He spends his winters hunting for exotic pumpkin seeds… warty pumpkins, flat pumpkins, white pumpkins, pink pumpkins, green pumpkins, baby pumpkins... All the pumpkins! You’ll see his pumpkins decorating hearths and porches for miles around.

Every fall he transforms the farm into a pumpkin wonderland complete with a corn maze where families, friends, and churches gather to share laughs and make memories.

He’s got a good-old-fashioned farmer’s work ethic, putting others first and making sure his customers get the very best service possible.

In 2004 Sam married architect and editor Maura at a BBQ turned surprise wedding! She’s not afraid to try something new, and quickly became the best tractor driver he’s ever had. Now she enjoys doing all the behind-the-scenes bookkeeping work to keep the farm running and boy are we grateful for her!
